What happens at that meeting point is entirely up to you. In this full-day, hands-on workshop, we'll explore both single and double clasped weft on the Little Loom. Full day.

  • Carding Textured Art Batts

In this full-day workshop, Erika, beloved in the fiber community for her stunning art batts, pulls back the curtain on her process. You'll learn to use a drum carder with confidence, explore a range of textures and materials, and develop an eye for what works in a batt and why. From wispy and ethereal to richly textured and complex, different styles call for different approaches, and you'll get hands-on time with all of them. Full day.

In this workshop we will explore how to create yarn by having our fiber dance around a metal point. Student's will create yarn from a variety of preparations by using charkas to add the twist to the fiber. We will also discuss the variety of fiber preps we are spinning and look at both protein and cellulose sources.

  • Fleece - So many choices, so little time

In this half-day workshop, master natural dyer, weaver, spinner and fiber enthusiast Kathy takes a deep, unhurried look at fleece — from barn to basin. You'll handle a variety of fleeces and learn to evaluate each one: what attributes to look for, what the crimp and staple length are telling you, how to assess the shepherd's prep, and what to expect from a fleece before you ever bring it home.

  • Krokbragd on a Rigid Heddle Loom

Krokbragd is one of those techniques that looks far more complicated than it is — a traditional Scandinavian pattern weave with a bold, graphic quality that seems like it belongs on a four-shaft loom. Surprise: you can achieve this technique on a rigid heddle. All it needs is a three-shaft setup, and that's exactly where we'll begin.

  • Tools of the Trade, Fiber Prep Tools & Care

In this full-day, hands-on workshop, Erika guides you through the full spectrum of fiber prep tools — hand cards, hand combs, wool pickers, hackles, blending boards, and drum carders.
