Welcome to the Fiber Studio!
I’m TeDi, shepherdess and fiber artist, the Twine of Timber and Twine
This isn't just a business—it's a reflection of what I believe in. Slow, intentional days filled with meaningful work I feel passionate about. Stewardship of the land and the animals. Sharing my passion for natural color and fiber with others.
After 25 years as a nonprofit human resources director, I lost my job in what I think of now as a twist of fate. As devastating as it was at the time, I would never have made the decision to follow my passions on my own. At middle age, I chose to make the farm my career over seeking another job off the farm.
At first I was a soap maker, crafting soaps with milk from our dairy goats. We've always had a few sheep, even then, and I taught myself to process their fiber and spin as a side quest. Sheep, fiber, and, along the way, botanical dyeing, have opened my eyes and heart and hands to a world of creativity that resonates with my very being. A year of waiting and wishing and planning comes down to a day of shearing, and then a year ahead of processing, spinning, and dyeing.
It is the best life I could hope for.
